Day 1: Cancun – Tulum – Coba – Valladolid Turquoise blue sea!
Visit Tulum, the famous Mayan walled city, perched atop of a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters and pristine beaches. The most noteworthy structure in Tulum is “El Castillo” facing the sea. Afterwards you will head for Coba, the lost city deep in the heart of the Quintana Roo Jungle. Coba was one of the largest Mayan cities and contains one of the tallest pyramids in the northern part of the Yucatan peninsula: Nohoch Mul, 138 feet high.
You will overnight in peaceful Valladolid, a small colonial town. Don’t miss to visit its impressive colonial buildings such as the ancient convent of St Bernard of Siena and then St. Servace’s Cathedral.
Day 2: Valladolid – Chichen Itza – Balancanche Caves – Valladolid Mystical Green!
Chichen Itza is the most famous site in the Yucatan peninsula. There you can see the fusion of different archaeological styles which reflect the influences of other classic cultures.
Admire the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Observatorium, the Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors, as well as the two wells, the Sacred one and the X’tolok, where according to the ancient tradition, sacrificial victims were thrown.
Near Chichen Itza, you will also find a huge cave, Balancanche, which was used as a Mayan ceremonial site. Entrance to the caves and interior cenote (well) succeeds through a 300-meter long tunnel, along a subterranean path lined with stalactites and stalagmites.
You may also want to discover both cenotes of Valladolid, Dzitnup and Zaci. Dzitnup is probably the most impressive cenote in Yucatan, as the access is through a cave.

Day 3: Valladolid – Ek Balam – Holbox The black Jaguar!
|
Some 15 minutes north of Valladolid, a unique archaeological site, Ek Balam, the “City of the Black Jaguar” is surrounded by exuberant trees and plants, and by three walls which served to protect it against attacks from neighbouring tribes. Marvel at the Acropolis, an exceptional building, as it has a frieze of figures carved in stone and finished in stucco.
Afterward on your way to Chiquila, on the northern coast, through green luxuriant sceneries, you’ll like to stop in Tizimin, site of major cattle shows and fairs in the state of Yucatan.
Chiquilà is the harbour where you’ll leave the car before crossing to Holbox, a small picturesque island.
